Large stretch of the M25 is blocked after horror multi-vehicle collision with air ambulance on the scene
The M25 motorway is closed off this morning following a multi-vehicle pile-up.
The anti-clockwise carriageway has been closed between junction 23 at South Mimms and junction 22 at St Albans following reports of a crash at 06:20 GMT.
Delays of up to 50 minutes are reported between the junctions. Vast queues were seen during rushhour this morning – at 8.30am – as the national Highways said that they stretched back more than five miles following the horror incident.
National Highways have said recovery and clear up is ongoing.
Herts police have advised drivers to ‘Please avoid the area.’
One person is understood to have been taken to hospital following the crash, police have said.
An air ambulance was also called to the scene.
All emergency services remain at the collision.
