Newcastle United may be missing two goalkeepers on Sunday for the Carabao Cup final, but they are in good shape in the rest of their squad, boosted by injury news this week.

The Magpies take on Manchester United at Wembley on Sunday afternoon and will be without the suspended Nick Pope and the cup-tied Martin Dubravka, ironically having played for the Red Devils in the first half of the campaign while on loan.

It will be a remarkable return to prominence for former Liverpool ‘keeper Loris Karius, who will make his debut for the club in north London.

That is far from ideal for manager Eddie Howe, but he will be delighted that the rest of his first team squad is in good shape.

According to The Telegraph, both Kieran Trippier and Joelinton have trained this week and will be available despite both going off during the second half of the defeat to Liverpool last weekend.

Joe Willock remains a ‘hopeful’ to be involved rather than confirmed, but Callum Wilson has trained without issue this week and will be available at Wembley.

This only leaves long-term absentee Emil Krafth out with injury at the weekend as he continues his recover from an ACL injury.

Howe will also enjoy the return from suspension of key midfielder Bruno Guimaraes who was sent off in the semi-finals against Southampton and has missed three league games as a result.

Newcastle are also in the beneficial position of not playing this week while Manchester United face Barcelona in the second leg of their Europa League play-off tie on Thursday night.

With the tie balanced at 2-2 from the first leg, Erik ten Hag will be fielding a strong team against the La Liga leaders, with the Carabao Cup final just three days later.
